Dropbox

Dropbox is free cloud-based storage to transfer files between your ipad, computer. You can also access your files from the internet when you use Dropbox

Cloud-based storage means that your files are technically stored on Dropbox's servers via the internet. All file changes are synchronized on every device you download Dropbox to, so you always have the most up to date version of each file.

Make sure to download and install the Dropbox program from their website for your computer to make Dropbox fully functional.

*Note: Media Specialists can help get the program installed on your school computer.

Evernote - The Ultimate Note-taking and Productivity App

Evernote is an place to store and share notes, webpages, resources, voice memo's, smaller videos, and much more. Evernote is one of the most widely used note services because you can access your notes from any device with internet. Evernote is also one of the best places to write when you are "offline" because everything is saved to evernote.com the next time you have internet.

All of your 'notes' are sorted in online 'notebooks,' which you can share with other people or students much like a Google Doc. Evernote provides many resources for educators here.

*NOTES YOU WRITE IN EVERNOTE OFFLINE (without internet on the road/at the cabin) ARE AUTOMATICALLY SAVED TO EVERNOTE IN THE CLOUD WHEN YOU GO ONLINE!

This means that you can write a "note" in evernote with all of the same basic functions you have on a computer in Word. As soon as your iPad goes online at school or at home, your notes are saved to evernote.com and are accessible from anywhere, as well as saved in a place that won't accidentally get deleted.

YouTube App

YouTube is the second most-used search engine in the World. I think it is one of the most powerful technology learning tools available on every device right now.

Challenge: Instead of searching the internet next time you are looking for information, try searching YouTube first to see what you can fine.

Skitch - Draw, Annotate, Share

Skitch

Great app for drawing and sharing. Skitch has many of the same functions as Doodle Buddy or neu.Annotate, but makes it easier to label parts of a picture, as well as share the final product. Skitch is made by Evernote, the cloud-based 'information organization' tool that works on ANY computer or device (if you don't have an account, get one). PDF's or pictures created in Skitch can be sent to Evernote.

Videos can be uploaded and shared through the EduCreations website. Share your recordings with students through a link, or embed them on a website/blog. Students can upload projects and send you the link to watch it.

Blurb - Create Stories Online

Blurb
Create stories to share online with Blurb. You can post images, video, and text to the web straight from the iPad App. You can create stores on Blurb from a computer as well as through the iOS App. The web version of Blurb has a few more options than the App, but is a great way to create and share in your classroom.

Note: Students will have to create an account, but it's fairly easy. Many teachers use this as an 'online portfolio' for students to share most of their work through this site.
